Inspiring Planet and People Positive Action
Reforestation will help reverse climate change, but trees can be fragile and take time to grow, so to ensure a traveller’s carbon emissions are removed as quickly as possible, each tree is also connected to a United Nations renewable energy project, further reducing the amount of CO2 going into the air!
As travelers of the earth, we must help reduce our emissions where we can, through mindful actions and mindful choices. A combination of these simple, yet powerful acts, can and will help our climate goals, creating a safer, sustainable future planet.
Existing forests around the world currently absorb about 30% of annual CO2 emissions and scientific research estimates that a worldwide tree planting programme could remove 2/3 of all CO2 emissions. Scientists ‘know of no other current carbon drawdown solution that is quantitatively as large in terms of carbon capture’ (Source Science May 2020). ‘To combat carbon emissions, forest restoration is one of the most effective solutions to fight climate change’. Prof. Dr. Thomas Ward Crowther is a British scientist specialising in ecosystem ecology and the chief scientific advisor to the UN’s Trillion Tree Campaign.
